Overflow Shelter Custodian/ Laundry Attendant (Seasonal; New Haven, CT)

Purpose

To assist with the cleaning and maintenance of the Columbus House Emergency Overflow Shelter in addition to occasional custodial duty at the main shelter at 586 Ella Grasso Blvd as needed. Perform laundry service functions 5 hours per day at 586 Ella Grasso Blvd.

Duties and Responsibilities

Clean and maintain grounds. Clean and maintain all interior spaces including kitchens, bathrooms, offices, dining areas, residential spaces and common areas. Remove trash on daily basis.  Transport materials and supplies to the Overflow as directed.  Remove, transport, wash and dry all bed linens etc. related to the overflow shelter services.

Minimum Job Requirements

Valid Driver’s License a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Must possess general physical ability commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position including the ability to lift up to 80 pounds.  Must be punctual, reliable, trustworthy, hardworking and respectful to staff and clients.  Must be able to follow directions and accept supervision.

Salary: $14.00 per hour, no benefits

Schedule /Shifts: Sunday- Wednesday- 8:00 am to 1:00 pm or Wednesday- Saturday 8:00- 1:00pm
