The board of directors chose Margaret out of hundreds of candidates in an extensive national search. Margaret has accepted the position and will report to Columbus House the last week of May. Margaret fills the role previously held by Alison Cunningham, whose 21-year tenure brought tremendous growth and national recognition to Columbus House. Alison left Columbus House last year to lead a program at Yale Divinity School where she has taught for several years.

Jason, a 33-year-old living on the streets of New Haven, was sitting under an overhang just off Yale’s campus, charging his phone and trying to stay out of the rain. The campus was deserted. Due to COVID-19 closures, most of the students who had left for spring break in March hadn’t come back. Even the tour groups, moving under their umbrellas across Old Campus, were gone. Between the stay-at-home orders and the rain, the streets of New Haven were empty.
