With skyrocketing rents, stagnant wages, and limited availability of affordable homes, thousands of individuals and families are struggling to secure and maintain safe and stable housing. Columbus House works in communities across the state to help people experiencing homelessness or those at risk find life-saving shelter and housing and access the services they need to stay housed indefinitely.

Housing Development
Beyond providing shelter, Columbus House creates homes that restore hope, strengthen stability, and inspire independence. Through strategic collaboration, forward-looking planning, and a deep connection to the communities we serve, our housing development efforts are opening more doors to affordable, supportive housing across Connecticut.
Rapid-ReHousing
Rapid Re-Housing is a program that helps people facing homelessness quickly obtain their own rental housing. The program provides financial assistance for initial rent, security deposits, and utilities. Through our Rapid Re-Housing efforts, we assist over 150 people each year in New Haven and Middlesex counties secure permanent housing.
Permanent Supportive Housing
Columbus House’s permanent supportive housing programs serve over 400 individuals and families across Hartford, New Haven, and Middlesex counties. These congregate sites provide housing in dedicated apartment buildings and duplexes, all with on-site case management.
