Older Adults
Providing Hope and Housing for Older Adults
Older adults make up a quarter of the homeless population, often as a result of financial or health crises, the loss of a loved one, aging out of the workforce, and the declining availability of affordable housing. To address these challenges, Columbus House offers case management services specifically designed to help individuals aged 62 and older overcome homelessness and access the support they need to improve their quality of life.

“I really didn’t think I was homeless. But if you have to stay with somebody and sleep on their couch, you’re homeless.”
From a very young age Bonzina experienced homelessness, but she didn’t realize it. After successfully graduating from a recovery program, Bonzina moved to Connecticut determined to maintain her sobriety. Her perseverance and tenacity led her to Columbus House, where her life took an inspirational turn.
